"SCI...A small business that doesn’t act small" SCI Consulting Services, Inc. started out in the early 1980’s as a firm scouting the marketplace testing and evaluating IT products. After landing contracts with Sperry Univac (better known today as Unisys corporation) in 1984, the company’s headquarters moved from Hempstead, Long Island to Washington, DC. From its inception, its founder and visionary has been committed each and every day to making SCI a great company to work for and a great company to do business with. Everyone at SCI works hard to live up to that motto. Faced with the challenges of learning how to do business with the federal government, SCI applied for 8(a) certification and was granted it in 1986. SCI landed a number of contracts with agencies like the Internal Revenue service, at the time Resolution Trust Company, Department of Urban and Housing Development, U.S. Agency of International Development and a number of other agencies. In 1987, SCI formed its training division called the “Government Educational Training Center”. Subsequently, several years later, that business was sold affording SCI the opportunity to become competitive in the early 1990’s, pioneering a small business Information Engineering Practice amongst giants like Arthur Anderson, Booz Allen & Hamilton, and Coopers and Lybrand just to name a few. SCI continues to evolve as a full life cycle IT services and solutions contractor. SCI graduated the 8(a) program in 1995. SCI learned quickly the process of competing in the federal government and subsequently won federal contracts with the Departments of Education, Energy, Homeland Security, and many more. In targeting very specific agencies, SCI has become one of the premier woman-owned businesses providing infrastructure and information technology services to the federal government. We are currently responsible for three Department of Energy campuses in Oak Ridge, TN. This large-scale operation with an SCI Team of more than 200 IT support personnel sets us apart from other businesses of our size and provides us the lessons and best practices to operate at the enterprise level of an organization. We also provide field support throughout the country to organizations such as the Department of Homeland Security, serving front-line enforcement officers with the IT services they need for success. Although headquartered in Washington, DC, we support customers on-location where they work in 15 states across the country.
