SCI Consulting Services, Inc. CEO MS. LYNETTE SPANO Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year® 2010 Award Finalist in Greater Washington

Vienna, VA (May 7, 2010) Ernst & Young today announced that Ms. Lynette Spano, CEO, SCI Consulting Services, Inc. is a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2010 Award in the Greater Washington region. Ms. Spano was selected as a finalist from nearly 100 nominations by a panel of independent judges. The Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards program, which recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate extraordinary success in the areas of innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities, celebrates its 24th anniversary this year and recognizes business leaders in over 135 cities and 50 countries worldwide. Award winners will be announced at a special gala event June 24, 2010, at the Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner.

“I am incredibly honored and humbled to be recognized by Ernst and Young for this prestigious nomination” Ms. Spano said. “For me, this nomination is an opportunity to demonstrate to both the young and old of the Hispanic and Latino communities that regardless of your background, obstacles or challenges, they all can be overcome with hard work, determination, and a vision”.

After 27 years of continued success in business, Ms. Spano continues to look for ways to ‘give back’ to her fellow minority entrepreneurs, her community, and our world’s future leaders, the youth of today. While still very actively involved as CEO of SCI, she also serves as President/Chairman and sits on the board of directors for the Puerto Rican Figure Skating Federation, a non-profit organization aimed at development and growth of minority youth around the world in sports. SCI Consulting Services, Inc. Awarded 2010 DHS Mentor-Protégé Team of the Year

Vienna, Virginia (April 14, 2010) Today, Protégé SCI Consulting Services, Inc. (SCI) and its Mentor Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) received the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) 2010 Mentor-Protégé Team of the Year Award. 

The DHS Mentor-Protégé program is designed to motivate and encourage large business prime contractor firms, such as SAIC, to provide mutually beneficial developmental assistance to small businesses. SCI and SAIC have been participating in the DHS Mentor-Protégé Program since 2007.  The team was selected for this award to recognize their developmental assistance accomplishments and contracts/subcontracts obtained in FY09. 

SCI CEO, Ms. Lynette Spano, and President Ms. Tanya Wilbon, accepted the award along with SAIC representatives at the 6th DHS Small Business Ceremony today in Washington, DC (Pictured Below). Ms. Spano stated, "SCI is proud to support DHS through our own DHS EAGLE contract and as a subcontractor on SAIC’s EAGLE contract. Under the SAIC partnership, we have grown our national presence and enhanced our emergency response and field operation capabilities."

August 2009 - SCI Wins a 7-Year BPA for the EPA, Office of Environmental Information

SCI was notified by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Office of Technology Operations and Planning (OTOP), of the award of a seven-year Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to provide Integrated Computing for the Enterprise. “SCI is proud to be chosen for such a critical program that supports the entire EPA user community and mission,” stated Ray Lupo, SCI President. This contract, known as the Information Technology Solutions for EPA or ITS-EPA II, provides a comprehensive technical support in service areas such as EPA call center support, high performance computing and scientific applications, geospatial services, telecommunications, operational security, and multi-media capabilities via radio and television. “This is a great team, and we are very excited about expanding our support for the EPA,” reflected Susan Wenberg, SCI’s Strategic Solutions Director. April 2009 – SCI Wins Support Contract for the EPA, Office of Water 

SCI, as a team member with PG Environmental, was notified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of a contract award to support the Office of Water with a technology assessment

Susan Wenberg, Vice President and Strategic Solutions Director, stated, “SCI is excited to have been chosen for this important task with the Office of Water!” 

March 2009 - SCI Records Another WIN!  Support of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA)  

SCI, as a team member with Base Technologies, Inc., was notified on Friday, March 27, by the Veteran’s Health Administration (VHA) of a contract award . This four-year contract  ensures that services required by VHA are clearly developed, defined, captured, prioritized, documented and are ultimately delivered and supported to match the originally stated needs with specific focus on minimizing impacts to production systems owned by VHA and managing network development and production changes to the configuration baseline. 

Ray Lupo, SCI President, stated, “We are very pleased to be working with Base Technologies and adding the VHA to our list of Federal Civilian clients. This win is one more example of SCI’s growing business solutions capabilities!” 

 

March 2009 - SCI Wins the United States Coast Guard, Operations Systems Center (OSC), Information Technology (IT) Data Floor and Facilities Support Services

SCI was notified by the United States Coast Guard (USCG) of the task order award on Tuesday, March 25. This five-year task order established under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge Solutions (EAGLE) contract will serve as the vehicle to provide support services for the Operations Systems Center (OSC), Information Technology (IT) Data Floor and Facilities. The OSC is located in Kearneysville, West Virginia.

Rob Smith, SCI Vice President and Executive in Charge, stated we are very pleased with this announcement and excited about beginning operations in Kearneysville and serving the USCG and the OSC in fulfilling its mission.  This award represents an important expansion of SCI’s work within DHS!

December 2008 - SCI Exhibits at EPA Environmental Information SymposiumEPA Booth

SCI Consulting Services, Inc. participated in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Environmental Information Symposium in Phoenix, AZ, as an attendee and exhibitor. “We discussed current capabilities with government employees and vendors, demonstrated potential data and mapping solutions, and participated in a variety of discussions and meetings. We were excited to see the tremendous progress the EPA and their state partners have made over the past few years. Our team was also pleased to share new ideas and reconnect with conference participants and former clients,” said Susan Wenberg, SCI’s Vice President and Strategic Solutions Director.

EPA’s scientific, regulatory, and management programs present uniquely complex challenges, requiring experienced solution providers with new ideas. With more than a decade of experience supporting offices throughout EPA and having won Blanket Purchase Agreement contracts with strong teaming partners, any EPA organization can easily access SCI talent (as many learned during the conference).

 

November 2008 - SCI Wins with Verizon the DOE Oak Ridge Federal Integrated Communications Network (ORF-ICN) Operations and Maintenance Contract

SCI, as a key member of the Verizon Federal Network Solutions, LLC, was notified by the Department of Energy (DOE), Oak Ridge Office of the ORF-ICN award on Monday, November 17. This five-year contract, valued at more than $42M, will serve as the vehicle to provide the operations and maintenance of the communications infrastructure for all federally owned facilities within Oak Ridge.  This includes the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), Y-12 National Security Complex, East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP), Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education (ORISE), Office of Scientific Technical Information (OSTI), Oak Ridge Federal Building, and approximately 30 locations and 55 buildings within the City of Oak Ridge. The SCI element of this work totals more than $3.6M and provides health and safety oversight and operation and management of the information technology aspects of this contract (e.g., operation of the telecommunications management system, support of the service center, directory management and support, and information protection).

October 2008 - SCI Wins Again! 5-Year IDIQ with CNCS

SCI was just notified by with the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) of the award of a five-year Indefinite Quantity Indefinite Delivery (IDIQ) contract to provide the Corporation with Business & Technology Services.  The IDIQ is sponsored by the Office of Chief Information Officer and provides consulting and services across 19 different support areas including:

  • business process reengineering,
  • strategy development,
  • organizational change,
  • CPIC support,
  • business case development,
  • requirements development,
  • enterprise architecture,
  • IT management and project management,
  • information security, and
  • grants management.

The SCI Account Manager for CNCS, Joe Knoblock, stated, “I am so pleased with the CNCS announcement! I am also pleased to be in the company of other great consulting organizations like BoozAllenHamilton, Grant Thornton, and Systems Research and Applications Corporation (a wholly-owned subsidiary of SRA). October 2008 - SCI Wins a 5-Year Single Award IDIQ with enGenius to support CNCS

SCI and the enGenius Consulting Group were notified by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) of a five-year single award Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDQ) contract to provide application services.  The IDIQ will support CNCS with software/systems engineering and support, systems production support, systems operations support, and system quality assurance.

August 2008 - SCI Wins a 5-Year BPA for the EPA

SCI and the Clear Point Group, LLC, were notified by US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of the award of a five-year Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to provide Professional and Program Management Support Services.  The BPA is sponsored by EPA’s Office of Research and Development and allows all EPA offices access to a full suite of business solutions and program management consulting services. SCI and the Clear Point Group, joined forces to compete for this BPA. SCI’s David Yates will serve as the BPA Program Manager and SCI’s Susan Wenberg will serve the team’s Solutions Architect.

SCI is very pleased to be supporting EPA. As we were drafting the proposal, it was great to highlight SCI’s existing business solutions capability and to provide a vision for how the Clear Point Team could help the EPA achieve their goals. July 2008 - SCI’s Oak Ridge Operations (SORO) Moves to New Location

Mr. Richard Green, Vice President and SORO Program Manager, announced SCI’s move to a new location for its Oak Ridge Operations. The new space located at 701 Scarboro Road is located just across the street from one of the program’s largest clients, the DOE’s Y-12 National Security Complex (NSC).  The 15,000 square feet of office space will also house members of the SCI team who support the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP).  More than 60 individuals will occupy the space.

 

Commenting on the move, Ms. Patty Baird, Senior Vice President and Director of Business Development, stated, “Since winning the DOE Information Technology Services contract, SCI has been looking for the right opportunity and right location to expand our presence in Oak Ridge and East Tennessee and to house our Southeastern Headquarters. The new space makes this possible!  Rick Chinn, the building owner, has done a terrific job of configuring the space for us and we can’t wait to complete the move-in process by the end of July.”

 

July 2008 - SCI’s Receives Award of TRIM Trio

Ms. Patricia Baird, Senior Vice President for Business Development for SCI Consulting Services, Inc., announced the contract award by the Department of Education to support the Total Record Information Management Trio application.  Under the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), the application will support their grants management business. The TRIM Trio System has three subsystems - the Electronic Grants Files (EGF), the Peer Reviewer System (PRS), and the Personnel and Budget Database (PBD) combining both records and data management capabilities .  The contract is a continuation of its grants management and business consulting practice, and represents three more years of support to OSERS with application maintenance and enhancement activities, scanning activities, quality control processes, report development, training, stakeholder meetings, and the exercise of the TRIM Trio Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP).

 

Mr. Joseph Knoblock, the SCI Vice President responsible for solutions delivery stated, “SCI is very pleased to have been selected to continue our support of the Department, OSERS, and the TRIM Trio users as they effectively and efficiently compete and manage 300-400 grants to organizations that support individuals with disabilities on an annual basis and manage their financial information and records. The SCI Team will continue to perform the secure management and operation of the PRS, EGF, and PBD systems as OSERS gains maximum benefit from their investment in the development and implementation of TRIM Trio system.”

June 2008 – SCI Names Rob Smith as CTO

SCI Consulting Services, Inc. (SCI) announced that Mr. Robert (Rob) O. Smith has joined the senior management team as Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO).  In this role, Mr. Smith will be leading SCI’s technology delivery and ensuring that SCI’s clients continue to receive state-of-the-practice information technology (IT). Smith brings over 20 years of IT service delivery and management experience to SCI. 

 

Smith’s experience implementing and managing infrastructure environments (i.e., service desk, information assurance, telecommunications, network and security operations, facilities build-out and management, disaster recovery, and engineering services) is a perfect complement to SCI’s extensive capability base in this area. His implementation experience includes applying enterprise solutions nation-wide for a host of commercial and federal clients. In keeping with SCI’s focus on quality assurance and service excellence, Mr. Smith will also apply his significant experience in effectively applying industry best practices (e.g., Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Project Management Institute (PMI), International Organization for Standardization (ISO)) to the benefit of every client.   

 

SCI’s Director of Washington Operations, Peter Engel, describes Smith as someone who has more than “earned his stripes by providing a balance of superb technology acumen and focused leadership action that always results in cost-effective and timely resolution of some of the most complex issues facing federal clients.”  Engel went on to say, “Rob’s accomplishments include the highest ratings from independent industry-leading assessment organizations.”

June 2008 – Susan Wenberg Joins SCI as a Strategic Solutions Director

SCI Consulting Services, Inc. (SCI) is pleased to announce that Ms. Susan Wenberg has joined the senior management team as the Vice President of Strategic Solutions and Manager of the growing SCI Business Management and Consulting Services practice area.  As the Strategic Solutions Director, Ms. Wenberg will be responsible for ensuring SCI’s solutions are consistent with each client’s business requirements, align with industry best practices to the extent practical, and meet and exceed all performance commitments. 

 

As the Manager for SCI’s Business Management and Consulting Services practice, Ms. Wenberg will apply her 20 years of information technology (IT) consulting expertise (e.g., business requirements gathering and management, best business practices, strategic planning, business case development, process and policy development, performance metrics and service level development organizational design) to ensure SCI is continuously extending its current consulting service offerings in anticipation of our clients’ needs.  SCI recognizes that our clients expect us to always bring the tools, processes, and technology to assist them in meeting the challenges of the continuously evolving IT industry and Ms. Wenberg will ensure we are ready to support our clients with the best vendor-neutral recommendation and solutions that align completely with their business needs.

May 2008 - SCI Wins DOE’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) Support Contract

SCI has just been awarded a 12-month task order modification for continued support of the Department of Energy’s EIA internet survey management system. EIA serves as the official information source on energy statistics within the United States. This task will provide EIA staff the ability to create survey instruments via the web without programmer intervention.  This streamlined approach is projected to save EIA millions of dollars over the next several years.  SCI’s Project Manager for this work, Mr. Joe Knoblock stated, “EIA continues to be a strategic account for SCI, and we are delighted with this award.”

May 2008 - SCI’s Chief Process Architect Gains ITIL and ISO Certifications

Al Rodriguez, SCI’s Chief Process Architect and Corporate Senior Vice President, has just received his Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certification and his International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000 Auditor certification.  Mr. Rodriguez stated, “These two certifications assist and affirm SCI’s commitment to managing each client engagement against a backdrop of best practices. SCI integrates the right people, the right processes, and the right technology to ensure unparalleled quality in our execution of service delivery. We are committed to delivering superior service by providing high-quality solutions that make sense and meet our clients’ strategic goals. April 2008 - SCI’s USGS Staff Achieves Another Certification

The SCI Team who supports the Department of Interior, United States Geological Survey (USGS) has just received their Help Desk Institute (HDI), Help Desk Agent certifications. The HDI certifications compliment their Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certifications.  In acknowledging this achievement, Mr. Ray Lupo, SCI’s President, stated, “Both of these certifications support SCI’s commitment to service delivery excellence and continue to build upon our strategic initiatives to develop greater industry certifications as part of SCI’s overall service offerings.”

April 2008 - USGS Awards SCI 8th Consecutive Performance Bonus

The Department of Interior, United States Geological Survey (USGS) has just recognized the SCI team members with their 8th consecutive performance bonus for exceeding performance measures.  In turn, SCI recognizes the team members that make this bonus possible by sharing the cash award with everyone.  SCI’s President, Mr. Ray Lupo, described this award as “a testament to the commitment of SCI and its staff in meeting and exceeding the performance expectations of the USGS.”
