SCI Honors Service Members During National Military Appreciation Month

MCLEAN, VA (May 15, 2013) — Federal IT contractor SCI Consulting Services (SCI) is proud to join others in the business community this month to recognize our service men and women during National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM). First celebrated in 1999 as the result of a Congressional act, NMAM honors active-duty service members, retirees, and veterans for the courage, heroism, and selfless acts they showed in service to their country while protecting our nation at home and abroad.

SCI Vice President of Cyber Security and retired Coast Guard veteran Captain John Felker comments, “National Military Appreciation Month allows Americans the opportunity to educate younger generations, most of whom have not served in the military, about what military service means and the impact that the military has had on our nation’s history. It also provides a chance for Americans to recognize the more than 90 million who have served. I appreciate the effort that is made by my colleagues, neighbors, and friends to support this recognition effort.”

SCI’s President and CEO Lynette Spano adds, “We are grateful for this occasion to thank our service members. They make many sacrifices in their personal and professional lives, and it’s great to have the opportunity to repay them for everything they do for us.”

Spano, a long-time supporter of the military, is currently developing A Warrior’s Wall (AWW), a website that serves as a peer-to-peer online community for service members. Intended to encourage military personnel to discuss sensitive physical and mental health issues without fear of judgment or reprisal, AWW is also a commercial marketplace where users can buy, sell or trade goods, find employment or housing, or write blogs.
